COMMUNITY PLANNING PROJECT COORDINATOR - Venture Centre (Timmins)

COMMUNITY PLANNING PROJECT COORDINATOR

1 year Full time contract with possibility of extension

The Venture Centre is seeking a dynamic bilingual individual to assist in the coordination of strategic planning in member communities, coordinate a social enterprise needs and feasibility study and work with all catchment area communities to deliver Venture Centre economic development services.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1.      Assist in the coordination of Strategic planning in member communities

•      Work with the Executive Director to organize communities around a planning process.

•      Work with area communities to design a planning process that will result in a vision and action plan for the district communities.

•     Recruit partners for planning work groups

•     Solicit partnership investments

•     Convene meetings; administer meetings

•     Document activities

•     Promote awareness of and understanding of the process

 

2.      Coordinate Social Enterprise Needs and feasibility Study

•     Research Social Enterprise concept

•     Study efforts made in the business community in the recent past

•     Get input from stakeholders/community partners

•     Investigate investment possibilities; identify interested partners

•     Compile findings and make recommendations

•     Research funding possibilities

•     Draft funding proposal

 

3.      Coordinate an Awareness Campaign for the CFDC’s Community Economic Development (CED) services

•     Identify marketing strategies that will showcase the services of the CFDC

•     Create and deliver awareness presentations

•     Create and deliver regular press releases

•     Identify local media outlets and submit regular articles or arrange to write a column

•     other communication strategies as identified in the Venture Centre communication plan

 

4.      Assist in the planning and coordination of various conferences and workshops

•     Identify potential workshop topics

•     Solicit partner sponsorships

•     Assist with the registration

 

5.      Other support duties as assigned by the Executive Director

SKILLS

•     Graduated within the last three years with a degree or diploma from an accredited college or university

•     Have not been previously employed under a NOHFC Youth Internship funding agreement

•     Legally entitled to work in Canada

•     Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French

•     Public speaking, presentation and interpersonal skills

•     Excellent organizational and negotiation skills

•     Knowledgeable in computers and computer software

•     Must have a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
